The project

The research project Travelling Memories: Representations of the City and the Sea developed from the articulation between the city, the river and the sea. Travelling in time and space, it aims to study various sleeping materialisations, both visual and narrative.

The ancient Greeks personified memory as the goddess Mnemosyne, who, together with Zeus, generated the nine muses. Memory can be visual, oral and/or written, depending on the times and the technical capacity of men and women.

Memory studies developed in the field of Humanities, in the articulation between the areas of cultural theories, visual culture and communication theories, which have gradually been challenged by digital culture.
